Electric motor repair & rewinding in Memphis
Burned windings, loud bearings, seized shafts — single and three phase motors from fractional to 50 HP, repaired in the same Jackson Avenue shop for over sixty years. Most repairs run about half the price of a new motor.
What we do in the shop
Complete rewinds
When windings burn out, we strip the stator and rewind it with Essex magnet copper wire, then bake the new windings in high-grade varnish. Done in-house, usually in 3–4 days.
Bearing & seal replacement
A loud, grinding motor usually needs bearings, not a replacement. We fit double-sealed ball bearings and US seals — most bearing jobs are back in 1–2 days.
Diagnosis & free estimates
Not sure what’s wrong? Bring it in. We’ll test it, tell you what it needs and what it costs — and if it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you that instead.
Rewinding and bearing work happen right here in the shop. The rare job that needs machining goes out to a machine shop we trust — and we tell you when that’s the case.
The motors other shops turn away
When another motor shop gives up on something and sends the customer our way, it’s usually a single phase motor. Pumps, compressors, fans, kitchen and laundry equipment — the workhorses that run homes and small businesses. We’ve been rewinding them since 1962, alongside three phase industrial motors up to 50 HP.
Old frame and original-equipment motors are a specialty. If the manufacturer is long gone and nobody sells a drop-in replacement, a rebuild is usually the only way to keep the machine it drives alive.

Built better than the motor you’d buy to replace it.
Many new motors today are wound with aluminum wire and never see a varnish bake — shortcuts you can’t spot from the outside. Our rebuilds go the other way: Essex magnet copper wire, double-sealed ball bearings, US seals, and windings baked in high-grade varnish.
That’s why we can say it plainly: at about half the price, your repaired original-equipment motor will often outperform the new replacement. And because we don’t sell motors, nobody here profits by telling you to buy one.
Bring it in — we’ll spec the job on the spot
Every motor is different, so we don’t guess at prices over the phone. Bring your motor to 3295 Jackson Ave and we’ll look it over, give you a free estimate, and tell you exactly what it needs. Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–5:00 PM — and the phone gets answered evenings and weekends.
One thing we don’t do: automotive starters and alternators. For everything else that runs on an electric motor, we’re the shop.
